Global Production Engineering is a full-time four-semester master's program offered at the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany. The curriculum is designed for outstanding international graduate students seeking to improve their competence portfolio in the fields of production, management, engineering, and intercultural communication. The strong international orientation of the program can be seen in the fact that more than 90% of our students come from countries outside Europe. Among our student body and alumni, we count people from over 50 different countries of origin. The GPE master program courses are exclusively held in English language. GPE is a master's program especially aimed at students with a bachelor's degree or equivalent and at least one year of professional experience.
This research-oriented education with its semi-practical application in labs, the mandatory internship, and the working on their master thesis allows students to get an early start on assuming tasks bearing responsibility and prepare them for a successful future career in the industry.
In addition, the last twenty years have seen the formation of a global network of alumni, where alumni exchange information and provide mutual support for each other. GPE graduates today are collaborating on challenges such as the construction of new production sites, global sourcing, and sales of investment goods, or in projects setting up cacao factories in Sierra Leone and manufacturing equipment for lithium-ion batteries. They are employed in the manufacturing industry e.g. for automotive, electric, and electronics, especially solar, machines and factory buildings, food, and also in non-profit organizations, governmental institutions and research and development.
Quality is not left to chance, it is rather the result of planned, systematic and continued compliance of internal and external requirements e.g. teaching, its organization and study programs. Founded in 1998 GPE was as one of the first postgraduate master programs at TU Berlin which was accredited by the ASIIN.
Meanwhile, the TU Berlin changed their quality focus from pure quality assurance of separate study programs to having the university as a system evaluated. System accreditation results in the accreditation of all study programs offered by a higher education institution. System accreditation has the overall objective of evaluating an institution’s internal system of quality assurance in teaching and learning. The relevant institutional structures and processes are checked for their ability to ensure the high quality of the study programs and the achievement of qualification goals.
A system accreditation certifies that the higher education institution’s system of quality assurance in teaching and learning is suitable to ensure the achievement of qualification goals and the high-quality standard of its study programs. The accreditation decision applies to all study programs which are introduced subsequent to accreditation and to programs which have already undergone internal quality assurance based on the accredited system. Hence, system accreditation makes it possible for higher education institutions to have the reliability of their internal quality assurance system certified.
Currently the final phase of the accreditation process has started and after 2017 we are proud to having received the label of the system accreditation again in late 2021.
