Q: How much do I have to plan for living costs in Germany?

A: Your monthly costs sum up to more or less 1000 EUR per month:

450 EUR: Student apartments range roughly between 400 EUR and 550 EUR
75 EUR: Health insurance is compulsory
200 EUR: Food depends on your consumption and taste (between 100 and 150 EUR)
35 EUR: phone bills may range between 15 and 50 EUR depending on how much you use your phone
50 EUR: Learning material (books, printouts, copies, etc.)
100 EUR: Depending on your hobbies and interests, culture, cinema, museums etc.. (e.g., a movie visit costs between 5 and 9 EUR)

Additionally, you have to plan 320 EUR per semester (roughly 53 EUR per month) for public transportation including an administration fee of TU Berlin.
