Q: How much do I have to plan for living costs in Germany?

A: Your monthly costs sum up to more or less 750 EUR per month:

350 EUR: Student apartments range roughly between 250 EUR and 350 EUR
75 EUR: Health insurance is compulsory
150 EUR: Food depends on your consumption and taste (between 100 and 150 EUR)
35 EUR: phone bills may range between 25 and 35 EUR depending on how much you use your phone
50 EUR: Learning material (books, printouts, copies, etc.)
50 EUR: Depending on your hobbies and interests, culture, cinema, museums etc.. (e.g., a movie visit costs between 5 and 9 EUR)

Additionally, you have to plan 280 EUR per semester (roughly 45 EUR per month) for public transportation including an administration fee of TU Berlin.
