This competition aimed at showcasing students and young graduates’ innovative and sustainable ideas with the potential to change the world in the field of energy access. This year, the competition was joined by participants from more than 30 countries and an international jury coming from United Kingdom, Asia and Germany.

Stage 1 solution focuses on productive use of energy through solar photovoltaic-based off-grid cold storage for small farmers. Stage 2 proposes electricity sale along with supplementary revenue streams from solar home systems and DC appliances sales through franchises, using financial innovations like “Pay as you go” (PAYG), microfinance and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

The MES 2015 Conference, which focused on “Micro Perspectives for Decentralized Energy Supply”, was organized by the international consultancy company Microenergy Systems from 23rd to 25th April in Bangalore (India).
