From october 2015 on the GPE Solar study program will be enlarged to GPE New Energy Technologies covering a wider field of renewable energy topics. Students of the intake 2014 are already provided with selected additional modules of renewable enegy topics.

Prof. Seliger, Dean of GPE, holds a variety of lectures. Students have the opportunity to take part in an intellectually demanding, but relaxed discussion and get their questions answered. Prof. Seliger has dedicated his life to the education of engineers and it has constantly adapted his teaching methods to the latest findings. "Engineers are the backbone of the globalized world," he always answers when he is asked why he has chosen the production technology as a focus of his teaching.

GPE Students in Action

Class of 2011 during a practical session at the Renewables Academy in the module Design and Installation of PV systems. Theory and hands-on-training are an important part during their studies of GPE New Energies. Students get to do real life experiments and actual installation...

...which gets them ready for the job market.  Here, students are installing a photovoltaic array on a slant roof top.  For an engineer it is not only important to know theory but also how the actual construction work is being done.

The GPE Training Center is equipped with most modern simulation and real-life equipment for hands-on-training. Students learn physical and aerodynamical foundations to understand how wind power is produced and converted into electrical energy.

In summer of 2012, GPE New Energy Technologies was visited by Germany’s international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle (DW). The students had this unique opportunity of talking about their experiences during this course of study to a wider and international audience through this media outlet that works independently to present events and developments in Germany and the world as well as promotes exchange and understanding between the world's cultures and people.

Field Trips

Students of the intake 2011 arriving at the international trade fair Intersolar. Visiting networking events like trade fairs or conferences is made possible during the course of studies. Intersolar Europe, being one of the largest of the worlds leading exhibition series for the solar industry, is a regular event for all students each year. As the next generation of highly skilled engineers in the solar industry, it is key to talk to persons already in the field and explore potential job opportunities.

At this unique and timely event, the GPE students discovered, shared and connected  with a huge range of companies and organizations of 2,400 exhibitors  from more than 150 countries around the world.

Studies is not only limited to the classroom and the laboratories but lots of excursions to the industries, solar power plants and factories in Germany. On a field trip to aleo solar, a solar module producer’s main factory in Prenzlau , Germany, the GPE students...

...saw first hand the production line of a module from single cells to the finished modules. They also had the opportunity of seeing how effective measures are put in place and implemented to come out with high quality of PV modules.
